Two concerts for Arcangelo at Wigmore Hall in March 2021
Arcangelo are grateful to have been offered two opportunities to perform at Wigmore Hall in March 2021 as part of the hall’s rescheduled Spring season. Members of Arcangelo’s New Ensemblists development programme will take part in the performances.
The first concert on Friday 26 March will see Arcangelo reunite with violinist Alina Ibragimova for the first time since our critically-acclaimed recording of Bach’s Violin Concertos, released in 2015. The programme features concertos, sonatas and concerti grossi by Bach, Vivaldi, Locatelli and Corelli.
On Tuesday 30 March, Arcangelo will return to the Wigmore stage in the company of soprano Carolyn Sampson and countertenor Iestyn Davies for an intimate chamber-scale performance of Pergolesi’s ‘Stabat Mater’.
Both concerts will be available to watch free of charge live and for 30 days on demand via Wigmore Hall’s website.
Arcangelo Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen said:
“I am truly grateful to John Gilhooly for enabling us to be part of these concerts, and for allowing us to once again bring musicians together to perform. Performance is our lifeblood. While there is no substitute for live audiences, the Wigmore Hall has done a wonderful job of its digital concerts and we know that our music will reach people in a beautifully-presented way that does it justice.”
