Emöke Baráth, Anna Reinhold and Callum Thorpe join Arcangelo for Vivaldi’s magnificent serenata, ‘La Senna Festeggiante’, at Wigmore Hall.
“Tuning so perfect that it almost hurts, careful ornamentation, and playing of astonishing clarity and precision…”
– ABC News Spain on Arcangelo, January 2019
Written in the year that France celebrated the majority of Louis XV, Vivaldi’s ‘La Senna Festeggiante’ is an opulent work for three vocal soloists and orchestra. Embodying The Golden Age, Virtue and the great River Seine himself, the singers celebrate the beauties of the land, and the glory of the young king. Fusing Italian and French styles, the work “flows with pleasing naturalness…vintage Vivaldi at his most buoyant and irresistible.”
For this performance, Arcangelo and Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen are delighted to be joined by soprano Emöke Baráth, mezzo-soprano Anna Reinhold, and bass-baritone Callum Thorpe. The orchestra is led by Louis Creach.
