About this programme
For the third concert of its 2021/22 Wigmore Residency, Arcangelo is joind by soloists Carolyn Sampson and Tim Mead for a programme centred on three leading Baroque composers. Written during the 1720s, Handel’s Latin motet is an admired example of his luscious vocal writing. Though its date is unknown, the Vivaldi cantata on an Arcadian theme seems likely to have been written in his later years. The two singers join in Bach’s motet, a parody of Pergolesi’s celebrated Stabat Mater probably made around 1745-7.
