Arcangelo New Ensemblists 2026-28: (L-R) Chloe Kim, Miriam Hontana, Joseph Pritchard, Felix Gutschi
Arcangelo is delighted to announce the four exceptional young musicians selected to join the 2026-28 edition of its New Ensemblists programme.
Violinists Chloe Kim and Miriam Hontana, cellist Joseph Pritchard and recorder player Felix Gutschi will enjoy a broad-based programme of training and career support running throughout Arcangelo’s 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons, including concerts and recording sessions as full members of Arcangelo, standalone showcase recitals as part of Arcangelo’s annual residency at the London Handel Festival, an 'academy' strand of coaching and workshops, and wider career support including filming sessions and individual financial grants for marketing and personal creative projects.
The fourth cohort programme benefits from major new support from Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust, with continuing private support from the programme’s founding donors and additional multi-year grant support from Idlewild Trust.
Founded in 2020 to identify and develop the next generation of specialist period performance instrumentalists at the key transition point between conservatoire and the profession, the Arcangelo New Ensemblists programme has already provided transformative support to 11 musicians over six years, with participants identifying the programme as key to their career development in the highly-specialised period performacne sector.
Auditions for the 2026-28 cohort drew record interest, with a total of 297 applications from musicians of 45 nationalities.
Arcangelo Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen said:
“I am delighted to be welcoming our fourth cohort of Arcangelo New Ensemblists. The ANE programme is now established as an ongoing part of the Arcangelo community, and it was very special to see alumni of all three past cohorts performing with us at the BBC Proms last month. I am very much looking forward to working with Chloe, Miriam, Joseph and Felix in the coming seasons, and to seeing their individual talents develop within Arcangelo's chamber ethos."
