 Wigmore Hall: Celebrating 115 Years

We enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating Wigmore’s 115th anniversary on the 1st June 2016, with fantastic performances from soloists Isabelle Faust (violin), Anna-Lucia Richter (soprano), and Rachel Brown (flute) met with rapturous applause from the house.

If you missed the concert, there will be a chance to hear it on BBC Radio 3 on the 29th June as part of the Radio 3 in Concert series, at 7:30pm. Further details will be announced, several days in advance, here:

You can also watch the concert, filmed in superb quality by Medici TV, for free via their website at any time until 1st July:

Arcangelo at the BBC Proms, 13th August

We are very much looking forward to performing at The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse as part of this year’s BBC Proms on 13th August. The Playhouse is utterly unmatched for the immediacy it allows performers to give to the audience, and there is certainly no better space to deliver a programme centred on Restoration music for the theatre.

The programme includes Shakespeare-inspired works by Purcell, Blow, Locke and Draghi, and features acclaimed Arcangelo soloists Katherine Watson (soprano), Samuel Boden (tenor) and Callum Thorpe (bass). There will be two performances, a matinee at 3pm (broadcast live on BBC Radio 3) and an evening performance at 8pm.

Booking opens on the BBC Proms website at 9am on the 24th of June, and on The Globe’s website on the 1st July. Tickets are expected to sell quickly, so do book via either of the Prom website links below, or via the box office (0845 401 5040) on the 24th.

Arcangelo in Rehearsal

There will be two opportunities to hear Arcangelo in rehearsals open to our friends in early August, with two very different programmes.

The first will be on the 6th August at St Mark’s, Battersea Rise, from 2:30pm-5:30pm, where we will be putting the finishing touches to a programme of Handel, Telemann and Vivaldi, with Soprano Louise Alder, ahead of our performance in Bruges two days later.

The second will be on the 12th August at Maida Vale Studios, from 6:30pm-9:30pm, where the programme for the BBC Proms the following day will be covered.

This is a great opportunity to hear both programmes live if you’re unable to attend either concert, and to see something of the artistic process that goes into our performances. If you would like to attend either (or both!) rehearsals, please email Oliver Doyle at, who will provide directions to each venue.

If you would like to bring a guest, please pass on their names to us by the 3rd and 9th respectively.
