Arcangelo at the BBC Proms, 13th August

It is a great pleasure to announce that Arcangelo will be participating in the BBC Proms this summer.

To mark the 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare’s death, we will be performing a Shakespeare-related programme of music by Purcell, Blow, Locke and Draghi in the wonderful surroundings of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe on Saturday 13th August.

We have a superb cast of players, all expert musicians for this period, including Sophie Gent (violin), Thomas Dunford (lute), Keyvan Chemirani (percussion) and acclaimed Arcangelo soloists Katherine Watson (soprano), Samuel Boden (tenor) and Callum Thorpe (bass). Jonathan will be directing from the harpsichord.

There will be two performances on the same day: 3PM (broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 as part of the Proms) and 8PM. Booking opens on 7th May. Further information is available here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms

Arcangelo nominated for an International Opera Award

We are thrilled that two of our recordings released in 2015, ‘Arias for Benucci’ with Matthew Rose (bass) and ‘Scene!’ with Christiane Karg (soprano), have been nominated for an International Opera Award in the Operatic Recital category. Many congratulations to Matthew and Christiane on this wonderful news.  http://www.operaawards.org/news/.

The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on 15th May 2016.
